LEA Licensed Contractors

We’ve recently had several local business owners ask:

“Does my alarm installer need a special license in Oregon?”

The answer is yes — if it involves commercial fire alarm or monitored life safety systems.

In Oregon, commercial fire systems require a Limited Energy (LEA) licensed contractor through the Oregon Building Codes Division. This ensures:

 Compliance with NFPA 72

 Proper permits and inspections

 Protection of your insurance coverage

 Verified life-safety standards

Not every contractor advertising “security systems” carries this credential.

Before hiring anyone for commercial fire or alarm work, we encourage property owners to verify licensing through the Oregon BCD database.

Life safety systems protect more than buildings — they protect people.

If you ever have questions about your system’s compliance status, we’re happy to help.
